Georgian president receives invitation to visit Spain

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will pay an official visit to Spain in the near future. According to the Georgian Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze made the statement at a meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos in Madrid.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will pay an official visit to Spain in the near future. According to the Georgian Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze made the statement at a meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos in Madrid.

The invitation on behalf of the Spanish government was formally delivered to Vashadze by his Spanish counterpart.

The two ministers signed an agreement to avoid double taxation during the meeting. They also discussed issues of mutual interest and called for developing a legal framework to develop cooperation between Georgia and Spain.

The ministers also discussed Georgia's integration into the European community and NATO, as well as the situation in the occupied territories.

According to Vashadze, relations between Tbilisi and Madrid are becoming more intense, which indicates Europe's growing interest in Georgia. He expressed gratitude to Spain for the efforts the country has made as the EU president to facilitate Georgia's integration into the European community.

During the visit, Georgian-Spanish political consultations were also held. The Georgian delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Nalbandov. At the consultations, special attention was paid to the intensification of economic ties and an agreement was reached on the intensification of efforts in this direction.

The sides agreed to meet often in this format.
