Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili expressed deep regret and condolences to the U.S people in connection with the death of U.S diplomat Richard Holbrooke. Spokesperson for the president Manana Manjgaladze expressed condolences on behalf of the President.
"Holbrook was a personal friend of President Saakashvili. He is very distressed by the diplomat's death," she said.
Manjgaladze recalled that during the Georgian-Russian war, Holbrooke was the first diplomat, who arrived in Tbilisi and expressed support to Georgia and met with President Saakashvili.
U.S. special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Richard Holbrooke, died at the age of 70.
Richard Holbrooke is known for his participation in signing the Dayton Agreement in 1995, which ended the civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
