Belgrade discusses cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia (UPDATE) (PHOTO)

The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov discussed the development of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia during a meeting with his Serbian counterpart Vuk Jeremic in Belgrade during his visit to the Serbian capital, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov discussed the development of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia during a meeting with his Serbian counterpart Vuk Jeremic in Belgrade during his visit to the Serbian capital, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
An Azerbaijani hall was opened in the building of the Serbian Foreign Ministry during the visit.
Later on Mammadyarov and Jeremic held a one-to-one meeting, then a large meeting with the participation of delegations. Jeremic reminded about his visit to Azerbaijan in 2009 and Serbian President Boris Tadic's visit in 2010. He said he had good impressions from this visit.
Mammadyarov thanked the Serbian leadership, personally Jeremic for their support to Azerbaijan on Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, informed his counterpart about the negotiation process held towards the peaceful settlement of the conflict, mediated by OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. At the same time, he reiterated again Azerbaijan's position on Serbia's problem number one - Kosovo problem.
In his turn, noting that the development of relations with Azerbaijan is a political course and strong position of the Serbian leadership, Jeremic expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani State and government for supporting Serbia's position on Kosovo issue, both at the bilateral meetings, and within international organizations.
They also discussed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's upcoming visit to Serbia on June 8-9, 2011. After the meeting, the ministers made a short statement for the Serbian press.
That day Mammadyarov met with the Belgrade Mayor, deputy chairman of ruling Democratic Party Dragan Djilas, who tanked the Azerbaijani leadership and government for the humanitarian projects carried out by the Azerbaijani embassy in Serbia, as well as reconstruction and renovation of the Serbian people's popular leisure place - Tashmaydan Park.

Mammadyarov appreciated the renovation of "Tashmaydan Park" and erection of monuments of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev and well-known Serbian writer Milorad Pavic there, erection of Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli's bust in Novi Sad and immortalization of the memories of these historic figures in Serbia as a sign of friendly relations between the countries.
Then Mammadyarov got familiarized with move of the renovation works in the park with participation of Belgrade city's general architect and deputy mayor, author of project on Tashmaydan park's restoration and renovation, architect Eldar Huseynov.
