Turkish President Abdullah Gul invited Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov to pay an official visit to Turkey, the Turkmen government reported.

The presidents spoke by telephone this week. "The Turkmen leader congratulated President Abdullah Gul on the victory of the ruling Justice and Development Party at the recent parliamentary elections," the report reads.

The last high level meeting took place during Gul's working visit of the Turkmenbashi city in May 2011.

Turkmenistan has registered about 600 companies with the Turkish capital. Ankara showed interest in exporting Caspian energy to Europe from the Caspian Sea through Turkey.
Ashgabat also seeks to involve Turkish companies in Caspian Sea resort construction projects of Avaz.

The intergovernmental Turkmen-Turkish commission for economic cooperation began work in 2008.
