U.S. is ready to support the process of modernization and reform in the military sphere of Georgia, which contributes to the defense. It was announced during a meeting between Georgian Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia, the Deputy Assistant U.S. Secretary of Defense Celestine Volander and Deputy Director, Plans, Policy and Strategy, United States European Command Admiral Mark Montgomery, Georgian Defense Ministry. in Tbilisi told Trend on Thursday.
The sides discussed issues of improving the defense capabilities of the Georgian army.
Washington is ready to support Georgia's integration into NATO, U.S. officials said.
U.S. delegation discussed the issues of deepening of military cooperation at a meeting with representatives of the Joint Staff of Georgian Armed Forces.
The U.S. delegation will leave Georgia on Friday. It has already met with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili.
