Georgian President establishes Council of Military Advisors

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili signed the decree creating the Council of Military Advisors under the Ministry of Defense. This decree makes changes to the previous presidential decree dated April 5, 2004 "On approval of the Charter of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia", the website of the "Legislative Gazette of Georgia" said on Thursday.

The presidential decree came into force from the date of publication.

The decree states the Council of Military Advisors will support the transformation of the Georgian Armed Forces, carry out the analysis of capabilities of the Armed Forces of Georgia, identify weaknesses and make appropriate recommendations, as well as make recommendations for the process of developing conceptual documents in defense and security.

During the presidency of Eduard Shevardnadze, the Council of Advisors, which included retired generals of Armed Forces of the U.S., the UK and Germany under the Defense Ministry worked.
