Mexico will soon open its embassy in Azerbaijan, deputy chairman of the Mexican Senate, senator Fransisco Arroyo Vieyra, who is on a visit to Baku, told reporters on Wednesday.
"Azerbaijan is an important state in the region. We do our best to open our embassy as soon as possible. Mexico is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in various fields and in particular, education, culture, oil and gas," Vieyra said.
He said Mexico as one of the Latin American countries will support Azerbaijan's policy. He also noted that Mexico supports Azerbaijan's position in settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Vieyra said a monument to Azerbaijan's nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev will be erected soon in one of important parks of the Mexican capital.
