The internet governance forum is the most important annual event and it has been very much success, U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy, Philip Verveer told journalists in Baku on Saturday.
"We appreciate how much the host country has to invest in terms of making this internet governence forum a success. We are very grateful to Azerbaijan for the opportunity to meet here," he said.
Verveer said that there will be more than thousand people from all over the world discussing issues of internet governance.
"It is very proper because Azerbaijan has invested so successfully in terms of information and communications technologies infrastructure that is necessary for internet," he added.
The seventh International Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will be held in Baku within the International Telecommunications Exhibition BakuTel-2012 on Nov.6-9.
The forum will be attended by around a thousand delegates from over a hundred countries, including representatives of government agencies, private sector, civil society and the Internet community, international organizations and others
The main purpose of the forum is to bring together various stakeholders, to discuss public policy issues on regulation of the Internet space.
The forum will discuss issues on providing public information, placing information of government agencies in the public domain and prospects for development of new products and services. The forum will also cover the use and distribution of IPv6 protocol, management of internet-resources, top-level domains (TLDs) and Internationalized Domain Name System (IDNs).
One of the important issues on the agenda will be the fight against cybercrime, the benefits of "cloud computing", the protection of intellectual property rights. The use of the global network of operations in the aftermath of natural disasters will be discussed within the seventh meeting of the IGF.
