The negotiation process between Georgia and the European Union hasn't been disrupted or slowed down, the head of the "Eastern Partnership" directory of the EU External Action Service, Gunnar Wiegand said at a press-conference held jointly held with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Davit Zalkaliani.
According to the EU representative, the information on alleged slowdown of negotiations between Georgia and the EU following the change of power in Georgia is spread around, although it doesn't reflect the reality.
"I assure you that everything is going according to our plan," he said, noting that the main part of negotiations will be completed very soon.
For his part, David Zalkaliani said that the 13th plenary session of the negotiations on the Association Agreement between Georgia and the EU was held on Wednesday at the Georgian Foreign Ministry to agree on the text of the document. According to him, the major part of the document has been agreed on.
"Today we have moved forward in the negotiations. Only several issues requiring consultation still remain on the agenda," Zalkaliani said.
According to him, the short-term priority of the Georgian government is to conclude negotiations on Association, free trade and the first phase of liberalization of the visa regime by Vilnius summit of Eastern Partnership scheduled for November.
