Bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan develop and improve from year to year, Special Representative of President of Afghanistan for CIS states Mohammad Shaker Kargar told Trend Apr.9.

He went on to add that Afghanistan intends to continue strengthening cooperation and take concrete steps in this direction.

A number of visits of Afghan representatives of various levels to Azerbaijan is expected in May, he said.

Mohammad Shaker Kargar, who is on a visit to Baku on April 8-10, discusses prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the government of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan and Afghanistan will discuss the issues of strengthening the cooperation, the embassy of Afghanistan in Baku told Trend on Apr.7.

The discussions will be held during the visit of Afghanistan's Minister of Mines and Petroleum Daud Shah Saba and special representative of the country's president for CIS states, Mohammad Shaker Kargar.

The visit is being held at the invitation of Azerbaijani Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev and will last until Apr.10.

During the visit, Afghan officials hold meetings with Azerbaijani leadership.

It should be noted that the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan stood at $275.99 million in 2014 and this amount was fully formed as a result of the export operations from Azerbaijan, according to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.

The trade turnover between the two countries in January-February 2015 amounted to $15.7 million, according to the State Statistics Committee.
