The joint work between the European Union (EU) and the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries is not finished after ten years, said Johannes Hahn, Member of the European Commission in charge of European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Trend reports.

He made the remarks during the panel discussions as part of the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership High-level conference in Brussels May 14.

“We have achieved a lot in the past 10 years, but many other things are still to be done. After ten years of close cooperation our joint work is not finished, quite the opposite, we have almost just started. It is about for instance, implementation of reforms, unlocking all the opportunities and potential. Boosting economic development will remain at the heart of all our efforts to strengthen our partners’ resilience, which is important in societal terms, but also very much in political terms. Over the last 10 years, the EU has invested heavily in strengthening the business environment and the competitiveness, again boosting the trade, supporting SMEs and tailoring education and skills to the needs of the real economy,” said Hahn.
