BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 14. Meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov with US Department of State's Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations Philip Reeker took place on September 14, Trend reports via Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the current tense situation in the region and possible steps to return to the normalization process.

Bayramov informed Reeker about military clashes on the state border as a result of large-scale Armenian provocation, destructive steps of Armenian side over the past few months. He noted that the ceasefire reached on September 13 was violated by Armenia a few hours later, and Azerbaijani positions were subjected to intense fire.

Azerbaijani minister stressed the reconstruction work carried out by Azerbaijan in the region in the post-conflict period and the country's peaceful initiatives, adding that Azerbaijan isn't interested in aggravating the situation. He stressed the importance of Armenia fulfilling its obligations within the framework of the reached agreements, the complete withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the territory of Azerbaijan and the cease of provocations.

Philip Reeker stressed the importance of stabilizing the situation expressing concern about the tension on the border between the two countries. He stated that he was in favor of a political and diplomatic settlement of all differences and that the American side was ready to support the normalization process by all means.

An exchange of views on various aspects of the normalization process, the necessary steps in this direction and other issues of mutual interest took place during the meeting.
