BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 3. The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha congratulated Azerbaijan on the successful conduct of the snap parliamentary election through the organization's social media page, Trend reports.
The congratulatory message noted that, in response to an invitation from the Azerbaijani government, the OIC General Secretariat sent a delegation of authorized observers to monitor the snap parliamentary election in Azerbaijan.
The secretary-general highlighted that the parliamentary election also included the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
His message said that the organization's delegation observed the election preparations, voting day, and vote-counting stage.
The message also mentioned that the OIC mission held meetings with the electoral bodies of Azerbaijan and organized a briefing on the voting process.
"Summarizing their monitoring activities, the OIC delegation noted that the electoral process was conducted transparently, freely, and in an organized manner, with high voter turnout," he added.
To recall, the snap parliamentary election was held in Azerbaijan on September 1.
A total of 112,749 local observers were registered, including over 65,000 representatives of political parties. There were 598 international observers from 51 organizations and 69 countries.
Among the 990 registered candidates, 305 represented 25 political parties, while 371 were party members but were not nominated by their parties. In total, 676 candidates were affiliated with political parties.
