BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. Two more trains will be launched in the Baku metro by November 8, Trend reports.
This information has been provided to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during an acquaintance with the new generation metro trains of Baku Metro CJSC assembled in Baku.
It was noted that a team of 54 specialists from the manufacturing company has been sent to Baku Metro to oversee the assembly, configuration, and testing of the carriages on-site. Each new-generation train is designed to accommodate 315 passengers in the lead carriages and 329 passengers in the middle carriages.
The lead carriages feature 38 seats in the lead carriages and the middle carriages - 44 seats. The carriage doors measure 1400 mm in width, making them 12 percent wider than those in previous generations. Trains have multifunctional zones for wheelchairs, heavy loads, and baby strollers; microclimate control; video surveillance; interactive passenger information systems; USB ports for mobile devices; and original light graphics.
The carriages are hermetic, so they are noiseless and have thermal insulation. Compared to previous generation trains, direct car-to-car transitions ensure passenger movement throughout the train. Of the seven trains delivered to Baku, assembly, configuration, and testing of five have been completed.
It was also briefed that with the addition of these new trains, the total number of the latest-generation carriages in the Baku Metro fleet has now reached 150.
