UKRAINIAN REFORMS AND ORDER PARTY REGARDS SERGEY YEVTUSHENKO’S DETENTION AS GROSS VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS

(UNIAN) вЂ" The Ukrainian Reforms and Order Party (ROP) regards the detention of Sergey Yevtushenko, a member of the Political Council of the вЂ�Pora’ movement, also adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, as gross violation of human rights and democratic principles, the statement of the ROP says.

The ROP protests against the arrest of Yevtushenko, who was detained at Baku airport and could not participate in the international conference dedicated to democratic future of Azerbaijan and Belarus. The ROP demands urgent releasing of Yevtushenko and explanation on the incident.

Yevtushenko was arrested with Estonian citizen Andrey Popov, who was released later without explanation of reasons. He arrived in Baku in the composition of the Ukrainian delegation consisted of Sergey Taran, the Director of the International Institute for Democracy, and Nikolay Katerinchuk, the Ukrainian popular MP.
