German MP observes progress in elections practice in Azerbaijan

“There is progress in the elections practice of Azerbaijan,” Verner Munkh, a German MP, who is cirrently visiting Azerbaijan, told Trend.

Munkh announced that he had started observing the political developments in Azerbaijan. However, he noted lack of intention of condemning the real situation. The European parliamentary said though a report on Elections and Human Rights includes some negative facts on the parliamentary elections held in 2000, Azerbaijan is preparing for the elections of this year in condition of full democracy. “Nevertheless, Azerbaijan still needs reform,” he underscored.

“I can’t receive full information on elections in Azerbaijan,” Munkh said, relating it with the variety in reports spread by different sources. “The Central Elections Center (CEC) presents information of one kind, while another source together with AGO group absolutely different information. I was to observe over the elections processes in the place. I came to a conclusion that Azerbaijan gains experience in this issue,” he underlined.
