Azeri president to pay a visit to Japan on 7-10 Mar

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will pay an official visit to Japan on 7-10 March, Trend reports citing Tadahiro Abe, the Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan, as stating in a news conference on Tuesday.

According to the diplomat, the visit is paid at the invitation of this countrys government. The Azerbaijani President is scheduled to meet with Imperator of Japan Akihitio, as well as Prime Minister Dzintiro Koidzumi and the Foreign Minister, Tari Asso. The sides intend to discuss issues of bilateral character, international situation, implementation of economic projects, and the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The visit will come as the second official visit of the Azerbaijani President to Japan following the first paid by President Heydar Aliyev in 1998.

The Japanese government hopes that the visit will give impetus to the development of bilateral relationships in all spheres. During the visit it is planned to sign several documents on bilateral cooperation, concerning the economic and political fields, in particular, an Agreement on technical assistance to the Japanese government of Azerbaijan.
