As far NATO wants to go to cooperation with Azerbaijan, as far Azerbaijan is ready to go, Araz Azimov, the Deputy Foreign Minister, told journalists. He was commenting on Bakus plans of further cooperation with the alliance.
NATOs position on the South Caucasus has not been shaped simply, there are some definite factors, including the geo-political state of the region. Azerbaijan does not build its cooperation with the alliance for the sake of anyone, but is based on the interests on national security and will of integration, the diplomat underlined.
The forthcoming NATO summit due in October will more probably focus on new modification of partnership, the Deputy Minister underlined. It might be a next step forwarding the direction of the membership of Azerbaijan at the alliance, he added.
