Discussing so-called Armenian genocide in the parliament of an authoritative state such as France is a senseless step, the Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov told Trend reports.

He considers that the fact of discussing the bill penalizing denial of the so-called Armenian genocide is contrary to the principles of freedom. Everybody has the right for freedom of thinking, the Diplomat stressed.

Commenting on Turkish Parliament's adopting the bill penalizing denial of the genocide committed by France against Algerians, Khalafov noted that it is early to say whether Azerbaijan will support this initiative. According to the Deputy Minister, such events happen along with history. The historians should research these facts and after this it is possible to make a political assessment.
