Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice to Consider Registration of Opposition Party
Azerbaijan, Baku / Т corr I. Alizadeh / The chairman of the Citizens and Development Party (CDP), Ali Aliyev, reported on 24 April that the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice would consider the registration of the party.
Members of the party Bullur Humbatov and Aflatun Guliyev recently met with representatives of the Ministry.
According to Humbatov, the representatives said that preparation of the documents for registration had been completed.
"The representatives of the Ministry of Justice stated that the CDP should wait for its turn in registration. As soon as the time comes the matter will be resolved at the earliest possible date," Aliyev said.
Aliyev added that the party is ready to wait and is not going to apply to court.
Right-wing CDP was founded by the former chairman of the National Independence of Azerbaijan Party, Ali Aliyev, in 2006. Along with the CDP, the Azerbaijani Popular Front Party and the Azerbaijani Liberal Party the organization is a member of the bloc Azadlig.
