Azerbaijani MP Azay Guliyev told Trend that the slander written by Turgut Er should not be taken seriously.
"Er slanders Azerbaijani statehood, history, and its national leader, who maintained the state and statehood during hard times," he said. "His publications are very primitive, and sometimes reach the level of 'domestic conversations.' His approach is at the household level. I do not take it seriously."
Some excerpts from the book titled, "From Freedom to Tyranny," by former Turkish diplomat Turgut Er, who worked in Azerbaijan, were published in the Azadliq newspaper.
Guliyev added that a law must be adopted to protect the name of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
"Some people abuse the lack of such a law, spreading all sorts of nonsense about the national leader," Guliyev said.
