Baku Prosecutor's Office calls statement of Azerbaijani journalist groundless

Baku Prosecutor's Office expressed its attitude to claims of the journalist, the employee of the Azerbaijani service of Radio Liberty, Khadija Ismayilova, and her lawyer.
In recent days, the employee of the Azerbaijani service of Radio Liberty, Khadija Ismayilova, and its representative, lawyer Adil Ismaylov appear in various media with unfounded statements which do not reflect the reality that they are dissatisfied with the course of a criminal case that is being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office in Baku on the basis of the statement of Khadija Ismayilova on interference with privacy, that they can not meet with the investigator conducting investigation into the case, that the investigation is not conducted entirely, fully, that the necessary investigations are not fulfilled, and thus try to create a negative opinion in a society about the investigation into a criminal case, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office said on Thursday.
"We reiterate that, based on complaint of Khadija Ismayilova in connection with violation of the right to privacy dated March 15, 2012 Prosecutor General's Office began a criminal case on article 156 of the Criminal code and investigative department of Baku prosecutor's office was instructed to conduct investigation," the report said.
With the participation of her representative Khadija Ismayilova gave evidence, according to her petition persons referred by her gave evidence, as well as other witnesses have been heard. With the participation of Khadija Ismayilova and her representative the scene had inspected, real evidence seized, forensic trasological examination appointed, requests sent to various bodies, orders given and others necessary investigations carried out, the report noted.
Adil Ismailov, a representative of Khadija Ismailova, took part in all investigative activities in a criminal case.
Since the initiation of criminal proceedings to date, Khadija Ismayilova and her representative have been received several times and listened to leadership of prosecutor's office in Baku, and specific instructions were given for full, comprehensive and objective investigation.
Currently, the investigation into criminal case continues.
