Azerbaijan needs to create a fund on strengthening ties with Azerbaijanis living abroad, member of the Milli Mejlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan, Sabir Rustamkhanli made this proposal on Nov. 14.
The MP made the remarks at the Milli Majlis plenary session which discussed the draft law On the State Budget of Azerbaijan for 2014.
According to him, such a fund is needed for strengthening ties with Azerbaijanis living abroad, as well as for organising the education of Azerbaijani youth, living abroad, in the homeland.
"We cannot invite a single Azerbaijani from South Azerbaijan or even from Europe to study in the country. One million manats are needed to provide the education of about 500 children in Azerbaijan each year. This is one of the main lines of our strategy. Therefore we would like the Ministry of Finance to create the necessary conditions to the possible extent for the solution of this issue," the MP said.
