The trial on the criminal case started in the Baku Court of Heinous Crimes Aug. 29.
Elbrus Azizov, Namig Guliyev, Rasim Badalov, Ilakhi Azizov, Babak Shirinov, Elman Mirzambayov and Afghan Shamkhalov are accused of involvement in the fighting in Syria as part of the illegal armed groups.
The trial was chaired by judge Rauf Aliyev. The prosecutor read out the indictment. The accused pleaded not guilty.
It was revealed that the individuals participated in the activity of armed groups in Syria and Iraq in 2013-2015, as well as such terrorist organizations as the “Islamic State” (IS, ISIL, ISIS or Daesh), etc.
The criminal cases were filed under articles 12.1, 279.1, 283-1.3 of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
A preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen.
