More than 1,000 Azerbaijanis who left Ukraine arrived in Romania on the morning of March 4, said the head of the organization of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Romania Vagif Hasanov, Trend reports.
Our compatriots are staying in buildings provided by the Romanian government, he added.
"All hotels are now full because of the current situation in Romania. Therefore, we had to put Azerbaijanis in other facilities, we provided them with food and beds. List of arrivals is also being compiled. Then they will be sent to Azerbaijan by bus or plane," Hasanov said.
Bucharest-Istanbul-Baku flight will be organized since there are no direct flights from Romania to Azerbaijan. Our compatriots who have personal vehicles can return to their homeland by land through Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Georgia, head of the organization noted.
"More than 40 Azerbaijani citizens were evacuated by Turkish Airlines," Hasanov said.
