BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 29. Azerbaijan has set up stands explaining the rights of foreign convicts serving their sentences in four languages: Azerbaijani, Russian, Persian, and English, the head of the legal department of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan, Colonel of Justice Ziya Dadashov, said, Trend reports.
He made the statement at a seminar on “Protection of the rights of foreigners and stateless persons held in institutions, which persons cannot leave at will,” held on August 29.
Dadashov noted that citizens of the US, Bangladesh, Belarus, China, Afghanistan, Algeria, Armenia, Georgia, India, Iran, Iraq, Congo, Liberia, the Maldives, Morocco, Egypt, Moldova, Nigeria, Oman, Oman, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Guinea, Pakistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine are serving sentences in penitentiary institutions of the republic.
Furthermore, four stateless persons, four citizens of Russia, four citizens of Georgia, one citizen of Iran, and one citizen of Kazakhstan are serving life imprisonment sentences.
