Court Session of Former Senior Official of Azeri Interior Ministry Continued with the Evidences of Crime Victims

On November 1, the court session on the criminal cases of the former senior official of the Head Investigation Department of the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry Haji Mammadov and the criminal gang headed by him continued with the evidences of a victims kidnapped by the gang. The court session on the cases of Mammadov and his gang comprising of 25 persons, is held in the Court of Heinous Crimes of Azerbaijan under the Chair of Judge Ali Seyfaliyev, Trend reports.

At the beginning, the evidences were provided by the Head of the Baku branch of International Bank Anar Sultanov. He stressed that in 2002, an effort was made to kidnap him, but it was not achieved. In result of the investigation, it became clear that Mammadov's gang wanted to kidnap him.

Other damaged person Ulvan Bagirov stated in his evidences that in February 1997 when he was going to work, several armed people attacked him in Azerbaijan avenue. They had put me in the car laying a sack over my head and after nearly 40 minutes, we came to one house. I was kept as hostage for a period of 39 days. I was released for $650,000, although they required $1 mln for my release, Bagirov underlined. In addition, the son of the Head of the State Commercial Insurance Company Ahmad Mammadov provided evidences. He said that at present he is the Director Sabail district branch of the International Bank.

When he was kidnapped in 1999, he was inspector in this branch. I was kept as hostage for a period of 8 months. $850,000 was paid for my release, he said.

The court session continues with the evidences of the damaged persons.
