Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Agayeva / The Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Clerical Board, Sheikh Ul Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, briefed the media on 26 April that the action of Rafig Tagi should be dealt with by the law.
Sheikh Ul Islam said that anyone who insults the dignity of others should be made answerable before the law and should be punished irrespective of their occupation within society. Speaking of the damages and pressure in the court hall on Rafig Tagi and Samir Sadagadoglu by a group of people, Pashazade said that thelaw does not harm anyone.
"I do not warrant the efforts of these persons. Their actions should be assessed by a judge and the law enforcement," Pashazade said. Rafig Tagi published an article " Europe and US" in "Senet" newspaper. The article about Muhammad Prophet caused a protest from the people who are believers of the Prophet. According to the article 283.1 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, criminal cases were raised against Rafig Tagi and Samir Sadagatoglu. On November 15, the Narimi District Court sentenced them to two years imprisonment. However, no lawyer desired to protect the rights of Rafig Tagi and Samir Sadagatoglu.
