Distribution of 90 Religious Books Imported to Azerbaijan Banned - Chairman of State Committee

Huseynli / The Religious Expertise Department at the State Committee on Azerbaijan Religious Organizations has studied religious literature under 350 titles during last 11 months and imposed a ban on import and distribution of 90 of them for they popularize religious intolerance and discrimination, the chairman of the State Committee, Hidayat Orujev, reported at a press conference on 29 June.
According to Orujev, 40 books submitted for expertise were studied during the aforementioned period and the decision was made to repeatedly submit the books for comment only after certain changes are made in them and the ideas popularizing religious intolerance are extracted. Orujev noted that 40 religious communities were registered in Azerbaijan during past 11 months, what is more as compared to previous years.
For the time being 392 registered religious communities function in Azerbaijan.
