Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / The son of the former Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Surat Huseynov's Assistant, Rovshan Nazarov who was accused of intentional murder was released from court.
Presided over by Judge Azer Orujov on 22 August, the court hearing at the Court on Heinous Crimes sentenced Nazarov to five years conditional imprisonment with a three year probation period.
Rovshan Nazarov who was accused of intentionally killing Elnur Gadimov on 26 June 1993 was twice detained in 1995 and released after questioning. In May 2005, he was arrested in line with Interpol whilst passing the German-Czech border. In five days he was released after a court hearing in Germany. In March 2007, Nazarov was again detained in Azerbaijan.
The defendant pleaded during the initial investigation and in the testimony he provided to the court.
According to lawyer Aydin Nazarov, Rovshan Nazarov was not at the scene of the crime during the homicide and was further testified as so by other victims and witnesses. The lawyer asked to acquit Rovshan Nazarov.
