Azerbaijan multiplies honey import from Russia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 16

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

Russia exported 23 tons of honey to Azerbaijan from January through May 2021, which is 4.3 times more compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing the Trade Representation of Russia in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan took 9th place in the specified period in the list of the main consumers of Russian honey.

According to the trade mission, the main consumers of Russian honey in the first 5 months of 2021 were the countries of the former USSR, whose share in the total volume of Russian honey exports increased from 41 to 53 percent, and exports - 1.6 times - to 755 tons.

"In particular, Kazakhstan took the 1st place in honey purchases (an increase of 123 percent - up to 364 tons), the second - China (an increase of 6 percent - up to 323 tons). In third place - Belarus, which increased imports by 106 percent - up to 248 tons," the message says.

The prerequisites for the growth of Russian honey exports in new directions were the depreciation of the ruble and problems with hiring seasonal workers due to restrictions due to the coronavirus in a number of countries, which led to a decrease in its own honey production.
