Azerbaijani tea exporters intend to focus on the Russian market in 2022, Shahin Ismayilbayli, chairman of the Azerbaijan Tea Producers and Exporters Association, told Trend on Jan. 13.
“Azerbaijani tea is very popular in the Russian market, so we intend to pay special attention to it,” Ismayilbayli said.
The chairman added that big volumes of Azerbaijani tea are expected to be produced and exported in 2022.
“The market prices of Azerbaijani tea-producing companies have increased by about five percent since the second half of 2021,” the chairman said. “The prices for Azerbaijani tea are not expected to increase this year.”
According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, 1,008 tons of tea worth $7.7 million were exported from January through November 2021.The export of Azerbaijani tea decreased by 10.1 percent or $0.86 million in value terms for the year. The share of tea in Azerbaijan's non-oil export decreased from 0.52 percent to 0.33 percent for the year.
