BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 18. Azerbaijan imported more than 422,034 tons of food products in 1Q2022, which is 3.62 percent less than the same period last year, Trend reports with reference to Statistical bulletin of Azerbaijan State Customs Committee (SCC).

According to SCC, Azerbaijan's food imports increased over the year in value terms by 7.73 percent, or $35,196, up to $490,183.

Azerbaijan imported over 9,161 tons of meat worth $15,674, 2,932 tons of milk ($4,137), 4,966 tons of dairy products ($26,910), 132,183 tons of vegetables and fruits ($77,155), 3,131 tons of tea (more than $15,359) from January through March 2022.

Azerbaijan also imported over 221,663 tons of wheat, barley, corn and rice worth over $83,176.

Imports of vegetable fats and oils amounted to about 40,537 tons in the amount of more than $63,101.

Azerbaijan reduced the import of tobacco and tobacco products by 35 percent (about $14,821) during this period compared to 1Q2021.

Imports of pharmaceutical industry products increased in quantitative terms by 15.54 percent, or more than 1,000 tons - up to 7,455 tons compared to 1Q2021 and in value terms - by 44.32 percent (or $50,171) - to more than $163,369.
