BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 13. Azerbaijan's industrial businesses and private entrepreneurs generated 5.2 billion manat ($3 billion) of products in January 2024, Trend reports.
According to the Azerbaijan State Statistics Committee, production in the oil and gas sector declined by 2.5 percent in 2024, while the non-oil sector expanded by 8.9 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
Meanwhile, the mining sector accounted for 66.6 percent of industrial output, the manufacturing sector for 27.1 percent, the production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam for 5.6 percent, and the water, waste treatment, and recycling sector for 0.7 percent.
Furthermore, in January 2024, Azerbaijan's marketable oil production fell by 8.3 percent, while marketable gas production climbed by 4.2 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
In the manufacturing sector, production of pharmaceutical products increased by 2.8 times, leather and leather goods, footwear - by 2.1 times, computer, electronic, and optical products - by 67.9 percent, automobiles, trailers, and semi-trailers - by 54.1 percent, metallurgical industry products - by 48.7 percent, rubber and plastic products - by 41.0 percent, furniture - by 40.5 percent, assembly and repair of machinery and equipment - by 35 percent, production of construction materials - by 34.5 percent, production of tobacco products - by 28.3 percent, production of clothing - by 27.5 percent, production of electrical equipment - by 24.9 percent, finished metal products - by 18.3 percent, textile industry - by 18 percent, food products - by 8.7 percent, beverages - by 6.3 percent.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the production of printing products decreased by 0.8 percent, paper and cardboard by 1.3 percent, chemical industry products by 1.4 percent, petroleum products by 9.6 percent, products of other industries by 13.7 percent, woodworking and wood products by 48.4 percent, and vehicles by 66.5 percent.
During the reporting period, the production volume in the sector of generation, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam decreased by 11 percent, while in the sector of water supply, treatment, and waste processing, it increased by 0.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
To note, Azerbaijan's industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs produced 66.6 billion manat ($39.1 billion) worth of products in 2023.
