Iran shares amount of needed money for construction of roads, bridges in Khuzestan Province

More than 20 trillion rials (about $476 million) is needed to complete the construction of roads and bridges in Iran's Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), which are currently under construction, Deputy Director of the Roads and Urban Development Department of Khuzestan Province Reza Amirpour said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.

Amirpour emphasized that the total length of these roads and bridges is 243 kilometers.

He added that the length of roads in Khuzestan Province, excluding rural roads, is 6,240 kilometers. Its 1,670 kilometers are considered trunk roads.

The deputy director noted that the department is working on a 20-kilometer part of the Khorramshahr-Ahvaz Road to make the road with 4 lanes in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022). About 12 percent of physical progress in work has been done.

The deputy also stressed that work is underway to lay a 23-kilometer-long Andimeshk road, and there is a 27 percent physical progress there.
