Grain Reserve Quite Enough in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry stated the grain reserve in Azerbaijan to reach 680,000 ton by the end of 2007, Sabir Valiyev, the head of a department in the Ministry, reported.

Some 1.9mln ton of grain has been grown in Azerbaijan, 1.5mln made up wheat. Valiyev refused to announce the exact volume of imported grain to Azerbaijan as the government concludes contracts with different grain makers. Some 125,000 ton of grains was imported to Azerbaijan within September.

Some 127,000 ton of grains is used in Azerbaijan per month. The country's demand of grain make up 1.5mln ton.

The Azerbaijani Government made decision to cancel Value Added Tax due to increase in price of grain by Kazakhstan and Russia. If necessary the Ministry may consider to free wheat and flour from VAT.
