Azerbaijani-Russian Inter-Governmental Commission’s Meeting begins today in Moscow

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / Azerbaijan and Russia will hold 11th meeting of the Inter-Governmental Commission for Economic Co-operation in Moscow on 13 December. The meeting is scheduled to focus on the situation and prospects of the development of the bilateral commercial and economic relations, especially co-operation with regards to transport, communication and information technology, notification and liquidation of the results of the emergency situations, settlement of property problems, as well as the implementation of the measures within the Program on Long-Term Economic Co-operation between Azerbaijan and Russian Federation for the period of up to 2010.

The most urgent issue within the energy co-operation today is the synchronization of the energy systems of Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran with the further flow of the electricity to Turkey. In addition, the meeting is expected to cover the development of the air transportations, improvement in checkup points, reconstruction of the bridge way via Samur River, acceleration of the realization of the north-south transport corridor.

The Governments of Azerbaijan and Russia should reconsider the measures on the realization of the long-term program, signed in 2002. Part of tasks specified in the program has been implemented and other part lost its urgency. Due to which, it needs reconsideration and inclusion of various new tasks.
