Azerbaijani Bank Studies Russia’s Experience for Operating its own Processing Centre

Khalilova/ In order to get familiar with the practice of processing solution, a group of experts of the semi-state Kapital Bank was sent for the monthly trainings to Russia, Samira Sharifova, the Director of Kapital Bank's Marketing & Strategic Development Department, said.

"The organizer of the trainings is Kompass, which won the tender on establishment of a processing centre at Kapital Bank. The group includes the representatives of IT department, financial department, etc because the processing centre will have advanced retail module," Sharifova said.

"We plan to put the processing centre into operation very soon by the beginning of July," she said.

The project costs €1.29mln. It is being implemented through the Bank's own funds. Kompass will also purchase the equipment for the processing centre, after which the processing solution will be installed by Oracle. The processing will be certified through the international payment system Visa International.

At the initial stage processing will be intended for servicing Kapital Bank's cards, but in future other banks may be involved.

The processing centre will two times exceed the functional abilities of the processing centres currently operating in Azerbaijan. [There are two Azericard processing centres established by the International Bank of Azerbaijan and one Millikard established by 18 commercial banks].

The capacity of Kapital Bank's processing will comprise 2.5mln of cards. The processing centre will serve 550 ATMs, 200 information booths and 5,000 POS-terminals.
