Program for Construction of Nine Modern Junctions to be Completed in Baku in September

Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 April / Trend corr. I.Alizade / The first stage of the program to upgrade the transport infrastructure in Baku will be completed in September 2008. The bridges and junctions near the metro station Mashadi Azizbayov, on the intersection of Babak and Mahammad Khadi streets, and near 'Excelsior' hotel will be put into operation during the mentioned period, Javid Gurbanov, Head of Azeryolservice OJSC, stated on 25 April.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport is planning to put into operation two biggest junctions in Baku in early May 2008. The new bridge on the intersection of Babak and Mahammad Khadi streets (located near the Khalglar Dostlugu metro station) will be put into operation. The length of the bridge is 1,410 metres. Construction of the bridge will able to tackle traffic jams in the area.

The junction near the 'Excelsior' hotel is expected to put into operation in May. The total square of the junction is 2,000 metres. The junction consists of five bridges, two tonnels and reconstruction of

The junction near the Mashadi Azizbayov metro station will be put into operation in September 2008. The junction includes nine bridges and 11 routes. Total square of the junction is 3,600 metres. The first pendant bridge in Baku will be set up in the junction.

All work is carried out within the framework of the project by the order of the Azerbaijani President to upgrade transport system of Baku from 2006 to 2007.

In 2008, the program for construction of bridges, intersections, tunnels and underground parks will be continued. Presently, the program is being ratified by the President. Within the framework of the program 14 new bridges and junctions, 7 multi-storied parking, 30 crossings and 96km roads are planning to put into operation.
