Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 July / Trend , corr E. Ismayilov/ Azerbaijani Airlines (AZAL) closed joint stock company will purchase the fifth ATR aircraft produced in France by the end of July, AZAL said.
The third and fourth ATR planes were purchased by the company in May and June respectively. The plane purchased in May carries out Baku-Mineralniye Vodi-Baku flight. The sixth aircraft is expected to be purchased in August to September.
In 2007, the airline company purchased two aircrafts from the same producer. AZAL plans to use new aircrafts to convey passengers to airports of Nakhchivan, Ganja, Lankarana and Zagatala airports of Azerbaijan.
AZAL placed order in the French aircraft building company to purchase two ATR - 42-500S and four ATR-72-500S. The sum total of the contract is about $97.2mln. These aircrafts carry 50 to 70 passengers.
The representatives of the French company said earlier that six new aircrafts will enable Azerbaijan to update the park of aircrafts replacing the old Antonov and Tupolev aircrafts and to open new regional flights.
