Azerbaijan, Baku, 23 September/corr. of Trend A.Badalova / Food safety, improvement of products quality and widening of Azerbaijan's trade opportunities are on focus of discussions at the workshop, organized together with the government of Azerbaijan and the Agency of international development of USA (USAID), in Baku on 23 September
The four-day workshop is organized under the USAID program for support to trade and investment reforms in Azerbaijan (TIRSP).
The workshop is a part of the large-scale program to speed-up the process of Azerbaijan's entrance to the World trade organization, run by the USAID together with the Azerbaijan government, Ralf Giffort, the head of the department for work with foreign countries of the US Agriculture Department.
"TIRSP program will help to speed-up and improve efficiency of the customs check-up of different goods, allowing attracting bigger number of investments into Azerbaijan and widening of access of Azerbaijani companies and clients to the foreign raw material," he said.
The projects in the sphere of control over goods safety and customs check-up are considered, Giffort said.
"Our purpose is to support Azerbaijani economy in whole, including agriculture", - he underlined.
The United States will soon come out with a new program on increase of competitiveness in private sector.
"This program will allow increase of competitiveness of output of Azerbaijani agriculture producers," Griffit told.
Over 30 representatives from different departments, including the ministries of agriculture, economical development, health, emergency situations, the State agency on standardization, metrology and patents are taking part in this workshop.
