Azerbaijan, Baku, 8 November / Trend corr. N.Ismayilova /Number of profitable banks in Azerbaijan rose from 36 to 38 in September 2008, whilst their number remained the same as compared to September of 2007, the National Bank of Azerbaijan said.
General income of the banking system rose by 62.8% as compared to 1 October in 2007 and made up AZN 179.62mln. Number of profitable banks increased in September and total amount of income rose by 9.2%.
In September, number of unprofitable banks reduced by two and as compared to the beginning of 2008 - by three banks. Loss of seven banks amounted to AZN 12.33mln, which is twice more than the figure of the beginning of 2008.
