The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCCA) plans to reconstruct and commission 5 vehicle check-points by January 2010, committee head Aydin Aliyev said at a meeting on Jan. 30.
"The check-points are being reconstructed in accordance with international standards," Aliyev said.
He added that the SCCA plans to upgrade all customs check-points throughout the country.
Aliyev said the committee has also discussed launching a risk management center in 2009 equipped with modern technical equipment. Specialized personnel will conduct risk analysis of smuggling at the center.
The committee will continue working with the UNDP to improve the customs system in 2009, he said.
