By late 2010 a customs checkpoint between Azerbaijan and Iran, located in the Bilasuvar region, will operate twenty-four hours a day, the head of the Iranian Presidential Apparatus' department for control over economic issues and Assistant to Iranian Vice-President Aliaga Mohammadi said today.

"We have reached an agreement to make operation of the customs checkpoint in Bilasuvar active for 24 hours," Mohammadi said.

According to Mohammadi, the sides agreed to open additional customs checkpoints between the two countries. Iran is ready to consider locations of checkpoints proposed by Azerbaijan.

Due to the unilateral cancellation of the visa regime with Azerbaijan in order to increase the flow of persons wishing to enter Iran, the country intends to move to a "single window" system at customs checkpoints, as well as keep them open for longer hours.
