A Diamond Star tanker flying under the Portuguese flag was allowed to sail unrestricted after its captain Alechino Valdemaras paid 65, 000 lari fine (1.78 lari is $ 1) for Georgian waters pollution and 1,134.38 lari compensation for environment damage, the Georgian Border Police told Trend.
The Batumi Civil Court made such a decision according to the Administrative Code of Georgia, Article 58.
The Diamond Star was detained in the port of Batumi due to marine pollution by harmful substances on Feb.7.
