World Bank's director of sustainable development department for the region of Europe and Central Asia Peter Thompson will visit Baku, the WB's Baku Office told Trend on Thursday.
According to the information, the visit will last from Oct. 15-22. The main purpose of the visit is to familiarize with the implementation of the bank's projects in such areas as agriculture, environment and infrastructure.
"This will be Thompson's last visit to the country at this position, because he intends to leave the occupied position due to retirement in the nearest future," the office said.
The current portfolio in Azerbaijan consists of 20 projects worth $2.3 billion. Azerbaijan is a member of the World Bank since 1992. So far, the bank has allocated $ 2.9 billion to Azerbaijan to finance 43 projects.
