Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan.27 / Trend I.Khalilova /

Azerbaijan has simplified customs clearance of vehicles imported in the country by introducing single window principle, head of the State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev said in an interview published on Friday.

"By introducing single window principle it is possible to conduct customs clearance, state registration, keeping records, issue of certificate on state registration and state sign, granting right on ownership, use and disposal of vehicle," Mr Aliyev said.

Introduction of this principle became possible due to commissioning of new administrative building of the motor transport customs department in October, 2011, he said.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, number of cars in the country having increased by 59,800 units exceeded 1.042 million units in 2011. At present there are 42 cars for each 100 families.

The State Customs Committee is also carrying work on ensuring custom payments through banks and plastic cards.

"For implementation of these measures customs clearance of all types of vehicles and machinery in the motor transport customs department is carried out by 'on-line queue' system," Mr Aliyev said.

Apart from this, 2 electronic information kiosks are installed in the Department to provide those who appealed with necessary information on rules of customs clearance and other information.

Use of single window principle at customs checkpoints began in 2009. From this period this sphere has underwent certain period of development, measures on solving legal and organizational questions were taken, quality of work on informing and establishing partnership ties with relevant state structures increased, use of large-scale information technologies in the process of applying new rules started.

By use of single window principle the State Customs Committee managed to increase efficiency of control methods, significantly improved opportunities for use of technical means of control which makes it possible to save time spent on relevant inspections and waiting related to this. Introduction of single window principle for registration of vehicles became continuation of these measures.

In whole use of single window principle is a new order in international practice at the present stage which positively affects increase in turnover between countries and development of international trade.
