Eight Turkish businessmen were deported upon the decision of Uzbek judiciary bodies. They have been convicted on charges of tax evasion, the Uzbekistan TV channel said.
After sentencing the businessmen, they were immediately pardoned and deported. Their property was confiscated by the state.
Another Turkish businessman with a residence permit in Uzbekistan was sentenced to three years in jail and a $15,000 fine.
Moreover, Bosit Oribhodzhaev, the former chief inspector of the Shayhontohur District Tax Office in Tashkent, was sentenced to 11 years in prison for taking bribes from the businessmen.
The businessmen were indicted as a result of a raid conducted by the Uzbek law enforcement bodies in March at a Turkish trade center in Tashkent.
