Turkish banking sector assets slightly decline

Assets of the Turkish banking sector in January 2012 decreased by 0.3 percent, compared to the previous month and amounted to 1.2 trillion lira, a report of the Turkish Banking Regulation Agency said on Wednesday.

Assets of the Turkish banking sector in January 2012 decreased by 0.3 percent, compared to the previous month and amounted to 1.2 trillion lira, a report of the Turkish Banking Regulation Agency said on Wednesday.

Loans of the banking sector in January 2012 decreased by 0.9 percent and amounted to 676.8 billion lira. During this period, the volume of securities declined by 0.1 percent and amounted to 285.3 billion lira.

Revenues of Turkey's banking sector in January increased by 18 percent compared to the same period in 2011, amounting to 1.184 billion lira.

At the same time, capital adequacy ratio declined by 1.6 points and hitting 16.8 percent in January.
