Russia to deal with reconstruction of water pumping stations in Turkmenistan

The Water Resources Ministry of Turkmenistan will conclude a contract with CJSC Hydromashservice (Russian Federation) for the reconstruction of three water pumping stations of the Zahmet-Turkmengala machine channel in Mary region.
The corresponding order was signed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov 'in order to introduce high efficient technology equipment in the water industry of the country and further improve water supply to sowing areas'.
The document orders work be launched in May 2012 and commissions water pumping stations in May 2014.
Water management is one of the most important sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan.
A sectorial ministry unites all the water resources of the country, all the rivers and other water sources of irrigation, dams, reservoirs and irrigation networks and complex hydro technical structures.
Within its authority the ministry carries out work on the regulation and distribution of water resources, construction and operation of water facilities, development of new and the improvement of the reclamation state of irrigated lands.
These issues have been raised recently at the government meeting. Berdimuhammadov emphasised "the need for the widespread introduction of water saving technologies, scientific achievements and advanced world experience for efficient water consumption in the country as well as a reliable water supply."
